Dream Hire Framework – 3 Practical Tips You Can Use Right Now!

Before you even try the Engine, here are three quick wins from the DREAM Hire Framework™ that you can implement today:

1. Define success traits, not just skills

Most job descriptions focus on what someone needs to do. But the best hires are defined by how they show up. Before you write your next job ad, list 3-5 traits that define success in your culture and role. Are you looking for resilience? Curiosity? Accountability? Name them. Describe in DETAIL how these traits show up in your culture. Then hire for them.

2. Ask “Could you share a SPECIFIC EXAMPLE about a time when…” questions

Asking for SPECIFIC EXAMPLES in interview questions reveals how candidates have actually handled situations in the past — which is the best predictor of how they’ll perform in the future. Instead of asking, “Are you good under pressure?” ask, “Could you share about a SPECIFIC time when you had to handle multiple competing priorities?”

3. Onboard for retention, not just orientation

Most onboarding is a checklist: paperwork, systems training, introductions. But great onboarding is about connection and clarity. In the first 30 days, focus on helping new hires understand why the work matters, how they contribute to the mission, and who they can turn to for support. This is where retention starts.
