Identifying and Improving Business Processes
Effective business processes can save you time, money and future hassles. The method I use for identifying and improving business processes is four steps: Investigation, Inquiry, Diagnosis, and Measurement
Investigation involves surveying everyone from your staff and management to your partners and customers. The goal is to not only discover the unwanted symptoms but to look deeper and find the underlying causes.
Inquiry is when we discuss the challenges in depth and start to articulate the specific challenges with clarity. Then we look for best practices within your organization and outside that may be helpful to address your current challenges.
Diagnosis is where we work together to develop a formula of what needs to happen to take you from where you are (Point A) to where you want to be (Point B).
Finally, we create methods to Measure success and set up a specific time to follow-up to ensure that you are on track.
Let me suggest that organizations that have not gone through these four steps have seen high turnover and almost complete chaotic situations. On the other hand, the opposite can be true. I have seen organizations that have gone through these four steps achieve increased profits, improved efficiency, and less turnover. Execute these four steps and you too can achieve this dramatic success.
